'Homeland' Star Damian Lewis & More Cast in Hailee Steinfeld-led 'Romeo and Juliet' | THR »
Homeland star Damian Lewis has been cast as Lord Capulet in the Carlo Carlei-directed adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, which began filming ten days ago in Italy. Additional new casting includes Natascha McElhone (Lady Capulet), Stellan Skarsgard (Prince of Verona), Lesley Manville (The Nurse), Christian Cooke(Mercutio), Tomas Arana (Lord Montague), Laura Morante (Lady Montague) andLeon Vitali (Apothecary).
I had no idea that this was a project that existed, but holy shit this is an amazing cast. Not amazing in an I LOVE ALL OF THESE PEOPLE kind of way, but amazing in that, aesthetically, they all very much fit their roles. Mostly: PAUL GIAMATTI AS FRIAR LAURENCE!!!!! I also love the idea of Ed Westwick as Tybalt and Stellan Skarsgard as the Prince of Verona… his voice was made to read that prologue.
